Structured Cabling

Clean cabling. Labeled, tested, documented.

Certified Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a runs for offices and data closets, and whatever cabling you already have, we make it work. Every cable is terminated on a patch panel, labeled at both ends and tested before we hand over, so the next person to open the rack can tell what goes where.

  • Tested and documented
What's included

Everything between the wall plate and the rack.

A cabling job is finished when it's tested and documented, not when the last cable is pulled.

Copper runs

Cat5e for shorter runs, Cat6 for standard desk and device drops, and Cat6a where you need 10-gigabit speeds or high-power PoE.

Patch panels & racks

Runs terminated on patch panels in a wall cabinet or floor rack, with cable management so it stays tidy.

Labeling

Matching labels on the wall plate and the patch panel port for every run, following one numbering scheme.

Testing

Each run tested end to end after termination. Anything that fails is re-terminated or re-pulled before handover.

Outlets & drops

Wall plates and floor boxes at desks, plus ceiling drops for access points and runs for cameras.

Fiber backbone

Fiber between data closets, floors and buildings, for distances and speeds copper can't cover.

Installation

Run properly, behind the walls too.

The parts you can't see matter as much as the parts you can. Cable is supported, kept clear of interference and left with slack for future changes.

  • Routes planned to stay within length limits
  • Cable supported on trays, hooks or in conduit, not laid across ceiling tiles
  • Kept away from power and lighting that cause interference
  • Bundled with hook-and-loop ties that don't crush the cable
  • Penetrations sealed when we're done

The rack

A closet you're not afraid to open.

We build the rack as part of the job, and we also tidy existing ones. Patch leads are cut to length, routed through managers and labeled, so tracing a port takes seconds.

  • Wall cabinets and floor-standing racks supplied and installed
  • Patch panels, cable managers and shelves laid out for airflow and access
  • Short, color-coded patch leads instead of a curtain of spares
  • Existing racks re-terminated, re-patched and labeled
  • Old, dead cabling identified and removed
Testing & handover

Proven before we leave.

You get the evidence, not just our word. Every run is tested and the results are yours to keep, along with a record of where each one goes.

  • Each copper run tested from outlet to patch panel
  • Fiber links tested for loss
  • Test results provided for every run
  • A port schedule matching outlet numbers to patch panel ports
  • Floor plan marked up with outlet locations

Cabling questions

The things people ask before we start.

01

Cat5e carries gigabit and is a sensible, lower-cost choice for shorter runs. Cat6 handles gigabit comfortably and suits most desk drops. Cat6a carries 10-gigabit over the full 100 meters and copes better with high-power PoE, so we recommend it for access points, backbone links and anywhere you don't want to re-cable in a few years.

02

Yes. Every run is tested after termination and you receive the results. A run that fails is fixed before handover.

03

Yes. Whatever is in the walls, we make it work. We test the existing runs, keep the ones that pass, re-terminate the ones that can be saved, and only replace what has to go.

04

Yes. We plan around your hours, and can do the disruptive parts in the evening or at the weekend.

05

Yes. We trace and label what's there, replace over-long patch leads, add cable management, and remove cabling that's no longer connected to anything.

06

Yes. We run fiber between closets, floors and buildings, where the distance or the speed rules out copper.

07

Yes. Switches, access points and firewalls are covered on our networking & Wi-Fi page, and are usually quoted together with the cabling.
